British Columbia Rebates

1. BC Hydro – Business Energy-Saving Incentives

This is one of British Columbia’s best-known lighting rebate programs for horticultural facilities and small industrial sites in British Columbia using under 500 megawatt-hours per year. It offers up to 75% coverage on LED lighting upgrades and a 30% bonus incentive for eligible projects submitted between June 3, 2025 and February 12, 2026. Projects must be completed by March 14, 2027. Eligible upgrades include lighting, refrigeration add-ons, and mechanical technologies like HVAC. Pre-approval and application must be completed through BC Hydro’s CEM Hub platform. 

2. FortisBC – Horticultural LED Lighting Rebates 

Tailored for greenhouses and indoor farming operations, this is one of the province’s targeted lighting rebate programs for commercial growers. Applicants must be FortisBC or municipal electricity customers (Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland, or Nelson Hydro). Rebates range from $16 to $570 per fixture, depending on light output, and products must be DLC listed (Aelius LED’s). Eligible buildings must be used for indoor crop production. Applications are due within 365 days of purchase, and installation must occur within 180 days. 

3. FortisBC – HVAC Controls Rebate 

Though not directly under lighting rebate programs, this rebate supports energy-saving HVAC upgrades. It’s available for commercial or industrial customers using FortisBC natural gas or eligible municipal providers. Rebates include $40 for connected thermostats and up to $1,500 for advanced water recirculation controls. Apply within 365 days of purchase and ensure products are ENERGY STAR or FortisBC approved.

4. FortisBC – Commercial Lighting for Non-Profit Organizations 

Designed for non-profits, Indigenous folk, and co-ops assisting income-qualified individuals. Covers DLC-certified lighting for both retrofits and new builds. Applicants must be FortisBC or municipal electric customers. Apply within 365 days of purchase, and install within 180 days.

Manitoba Rebates

Efficiency Manitoba – Business Lighting Program

This program supports commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities upgrading their lighting systems. Applicants can receive standard incentives with a 50% bonus if the application is submitted before March 31, 2026.

Saskatchewan Rebates

SaskPower – Commercial Energy Optimization Program

Open to medium to large commercial facilities (not industrial) across Saskatchewan connected to SaskPower’s grid. Eligible businesses can access up to $200,000 for energy audits, coaching, or custom upgrades. Lighting incentives pay $0.06/kWh saved, with project caps per fuel type. Program ends March 31, 2027. 

Ontario Rebates

1.  Save on Energy – Small Business Program 

Available to Ontario businesses with 50 or fewer employees, this program offers up to $3,000 in lighting incentives with free site assessment and direct installation. Previous participants may still qualify. Applications are ongoing. 

2. Save On Energy – Retrofit Program 

Supports commercial growers, greenhouses, and industrial operators installing energy-efficient grow lights and controls. Incentives include up to $200 per LED fixture and $0.35/kWh for advanced lighting controls. 

3. Enbridge Gas – Commercial Custom Retrofit Program 

For commercial, institutional, and multi-residential facilities reducing natural gas usage. Eligible upgrades include HVAC, process heating, and automation. Rebates are based on $0.30/m³ of annual gas saved, covering up to 50% of project costs. Pre-approval is required. 

Québec Rebates

1. Hydro Quebec – LED Lighting for Horticultural Purposes (Photosynthesis) 

Designed for greenhouses and indoor crop production facilities, this program offers rebates based on photosynthetic photon flux (PPF, µmol/s) and sunlight availability. 

  • For greenhouses with natural sunlight: $40 to $500 per fixture 
  • For fully enclosed buildings with no sunlight: $80 to $1,000 per fixture 
    These lights offer 30%–50% energy savings, customizable spectrums, improved crop quality, and longer lifespan. 

2. Hydro Quebec – LED Lighting for General Purposes 

Targeted at commercial or industrial buildings upgrading standard lighting. Rebates are based on DLC certification level: 

  • $5 per Standard DLC-certified fixture 
  • $40 per Premium DLC-certified fixture 
    Eligible products offer 20%–70% energy savings, generate less heat, and last longer than traditional lighting. 

New Brunswick Rebates

SaveEnergy NB – Business Rebate Program 

Open to small industrial, general service customers, farms, and places of worship are also eligible. Non-NB Power customers may also apply. Offers 25% back on eligible upgrades. Requires pre-approval before starting your project. 

Nova Scotia Rebates

Efficiency Nova Scotia – Commercial Equipment Rebates  

Supports businesses and agricultural operations upgrading to energy-efficient lighting. Horticultural LEDs under 650W replacing 1000W HIDs are eligible for $325 per fixture. Must be DLC listed. For rebates over $15,000, pre-approval is required before purchase. 

Prince Edward Island Rebates

1. Business Energy Rebate – efficiencyPEI and Net Zero 

For non-residential businesses, farms, non-profits, and institutions with buildings occupied for over 6 months. Products must meet pre-approved criteria. Pre-approval required for rebates over $5,000. Requires receipts, specs, and PEI rate code verification. 

2. Strategic Energy Solutions – EfficiencyPEI 

 Offers up to $75,000/year in rebates for large operations like farms, institutions, and industrial buildings. Rebate caps are based on annual energy usage. Program runs until March 31, 2026. 

Newfoundland & Labrador

takeCHARGE Business Program

 Geared toward commercial electricity account holders in existing buildings. Provides up to $3 per LED T8/T5 tube, credited to your bill. Only retrofit projects are eligible. DLC-certified products only. Installations may be inspected for up to 15 months post-rebate.
