There’s a new greenhouse and vertical farming hotspot in Canada, and it’s not where you might expect it. The province now has access to Alberta greenhouse funding through the Growing Greenhouses Program, a strategic investment of up to $10 million under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). This funding is designed to strengthen local food systems by increasing the production of fresh fruits and vegetables, expand controlled environment agriculture, and improve Albertans’ year-round access to healthy, locally grown produce.

Alberta greenhouse funding arrives at a time when growers, investors, and communities are seeking resilient, sustainable food solutions. Traditionally known for cereal grains and livestock farming, the province is now encouraging greenhouse and vertical farming projects that can increase food production even through harsh winter months.
